Everyone knows about the main social bookmarking networks like stumbleupon, digg, del.icio.us and others. And of course everyone submits their sites to them becouse they send hell good traffic to the bookmarked sites. But based on my experience if your article / site isnt got tons of votes the traffic only lasts about a week tops.

About a week ago I have tested a new way. Googled the web for some not too popular bookmarking sites and started to send my articles to them. So far the traffic is not as good as the mainstream bookmark sites would send but my articles are still on top at that sites and as I see they will remain on the top for some more weeks and the traffic will come. Also its a usefull way if you have a niche website send it to bookmark sites which match your niche

Conclusion? Mainstream social bookmarks are important but in long-term the smaller ones could be a big help
