As you may have seen, we have not had any social bookmarking directories submitted to us as of late. Social bookmarking sites are essentially directories, but instead of SEO increasing its ranking, an individual must vote to help get the specific site closer to the top of the search rankings. The most popular social bookmarking sites on the web at the moment are Digg.com and Delicious.com.

If you are the owner of a free-inclusion social bookmarking site and would like to have your directory included in our social bookmarking list, please feel free to submit your social bookmarking site for review using our quick-and-easy directory suggestion form.

Directory owners and lovers, I would like to introduce you to a place to share and gain knowledge about directories–not just iEntry directories, but other directories around the web. The place that I am referring to is the iEntry Directory Portal. The different tiers of the Directory Portal are:

• The Blog - This tier is more focused on iEntry directories, but does update on outside directories from time
  to time. This blog also gives updates of when iEntry directories will be down for maintenance, and of new directories entering our network. The highlight of this blog is the “Directory Spotlight,” a summary of a random directory within our network, specifying the directory’s focus and categories.
• The Forum - This is a place to ask support regarding the various directories within the iEntry network in
  the Niche Directories category. If you have any questions regarding our quality service, SubmitterBot,
  there is also a category there for it too.

I know that it has been a while since I have asked the SubmitterBot community for directories, so I thought this would be an appropriate time. Our quality, semi-automatic, mass-submission website, SubmitterBot,
currently houses 518 web/niche directories, 9 social bookmarking directories, and 61 article directories. Even though these are diverse numbers, with some being low and some being high, there is no limit to the amount of directories our system can hold. We would be pleased to have the count of social bookmarking directories increase as well.

SubmitterBot has various ways to help publicize your business’ website(s) around the web via our web/niche directories, our article directories, and also our social bookmarking directories. Social bookmarking acts as a voting system where users can submit their site, and for it to appear higher in the social bookmarking site’s listings, other users must vote on it. The higher the vote tally, the higher in the listings it will appear.

This past week, I have removed all of the erroneous and non-functional social bookmarking directories from our submission list, as requested by various users. With the amount of erroneous social bookmarking sites that there were, since most of them have changed to either paid social bookmarking sites, or have had their domains expire, I was only left with 8 successful submitting sites. A few SubmitterBot users have contacted me this week regarding some directories in our submission list that have returned the error of “Please select pricing option.” This error will appear for directories that have been entered into our system as free directories but have recently switched over to paid directories. SubmitterBot does not include paid directories, because all directories that are included in our service are completely free of charge, and submitting your site to the various 480+ directories that SubmitterBot has to offer is of no cost to you.

If any of you continue to see any erroneous directories within our submission list, please let me know immediately via our contact page, and I will promptly remove it from our list.

I would like to pull this week’s discussion from a question from the SubmitterBot Blog regarding article submission. A user’s comment was asking if we publish the same article content in the directories, or if we do them uniquely? From an SEO standpoint, it is not an exact science and is still up for speculation. The way it will work is like backlinks, where the more backlinks you have in a website, the more visibility your website will have in search engines. In this instance, the more verbatim versions of your article that is published in various directories, the more your article’s content visibility will increase in search engines when people are searching for topics that relate to the specific article.

I would like to discuss a question that came into my Inbox this past week. A user wanted to submit a site to some of our directories within SubmitterBot but did not come across any directories that fit the site. To answer this question, most directories will have an XYZ category. This category is dedicated for websites that are wanting to be included in the specific directory’s listings, but do not have a category that best fits their directory’s audience/product.

I thought I would bring this up in case any of you out there are wondering the same thing. If a directory that you encounter does not provide an XYZ category, you might want to ask the directory owner/support to suggest a category that would resemble the site’s product/audience.
